Fiat 500e was finally revealed – inside and outside – by the Italians, but we won’t see the electric version of 500 until the public debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Fiat 500e represents the electric version of the already famous Fiat 500, and will be officially unveiled at Los Angeles Auto Show. The electrification of the Italian model isn’t about just simply replacing the engine, but also comes with aesthetic changes.

The bodywork of the new Fiat 500e is painted in a shade of harsh orange, the front bumper has a lower ornament painted white, the rims have a different pattern and the side skirts also have a dedicated set of ornaments.
The electric version of the Fiat 500 has a new interior, decorated in white and orange. The new dashboard has different clocks and another transmission control unit.
Fiat 500e will be exhibited for the first time at the American Music Awards in November 18, and the public debut will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show at the end of the month.
For now, the people at Fiat didn’t revealed the technical specifications of this model, 500e being the first electric car for the Fiat Group. Their American partners, Chrysler, had several electrical concepts in the portfolio, removed shortly after being acquired by the Italian brand.
Fiat 500e will be sold on the market in California starting with 2013. For now, the Italians didn’t specified if this model will be provide on another market.
The applied suffix of 500 comes from the word “Elettra”. The prototypes preparing the electric model were captured by various spy-photographers more than two years ago. Since then, the rumors announced an electric engine of approximately 100 hp, coupled to a lithium-ion battery of unknown capacity.
