The fully electric version of Chevrolet Spark comes with interesting aesthetic changes especially in the front, which takes the shapes of the classic version and brings them to a new level. The changes reached also the rear, where they dropped the unnecessary exhaust pipes for an electric model, and brings a far more “clean” car.
The 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV announce itself to be a truly exciting car even from the exterior, well… the powertrain is really interesting. Spark EV becomes the most powerful and advanced series version of Spark, the 130 hp (97 kW/132 PS) and no less than 542 Nm (400 lb/ft) available right from the first rotation of the engine, managing to propel the new model in less than 8 seconds from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h).
The power comes from a battery pack composed of 336 cells with a total volume of 4.7 ft³ (133 liters) and weighing 560 lbs (254 kg). The batteries can be fully charged in seven hours from a home socket, or up to 80% in just 20 minutes if a special optional charger is used.
Besides technical novelties, the new 2013 Chevrolet Spark EV comes with five bodywork shades (Electric Blue, Black Granite, Summit White, Silver Ice and Titanium) and the new MyLink multimedia system, which first debuted in Europe on the Chevrolet Trax crossover, at 2012 Paris Motor Show. This is accompanied by a seven-inch touchscreen.
2014 Chevrolet Spark EV will have a price “below $25,000 with incentives”, meaning a pre-incentive price of under $32,500.
