Although Fisker needs about $ 150 million dollars to complete the production of Atlantic (the company relies on loans from the Department of Energy), they continue the preparations to release the production version. The American car manufacturer recently signed a partnership with BMW, which shall provide the N20 four-cylinder inline 2.0-liter supercharged engine.

2013 Fisker Atlantic will use the second generation hybrid drivetrain – EVer (Electric Vehicle with extended range) assisted by the BMW petrol unit.

The Bavarian engine combines the high-pressure direct injection with the latest generation Valvetronic system. The unit can deliver 240 horsepower (179 kW/243 PS) between 5000 and 6500 RPM, while ensuring a torque of 350 Nm (258 lb/ft). Currently, this engine is found on the models: 328i, 528i, Z4 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i and X3 xDrive28i.

The new 2013 Fisker Atlantic price is expected to be around $ 55,000 dollars in the United States (according to internal estimates), and will be positioned on the same price line with Audi A5 and BMW 3 Series.
