A few days ago Chevrolet announced that they will exhibit at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show the all new 2013 Chevrolet Spark EV. It seems that American car manufacturer didn’t want to wait until November 28, the first press day of the LA Auto Show, and published an official press release.

The official press release provides full details about the electric version of Chevrolet Spark and a photo gallery in which 2013 Chevrolet Spark EV has a camouflaged front to hide the aerodynamic modifications to bumper and grille.
Under the hood lies a electric drive train, 75% borrowed from the current Chevrolet Volt, Spark’s older brother. The unit can deliver 130 horsepower (97 kW/132 PS) and an impressive torque of 546 Nm (403 lb/ft). With such resources is not surprising that the 2013 Chevrolet Spark EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in around 8 seconds.
The zero emissions unit operates thanks to the energy stored inside a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 20 kWh.
For a full charge, customers will need 7 hours if they use a household power outlet. If a specially developed Chevrolet charger is used, the battery can be charged to 80% capacity in just 20 minutes.
The lithium-ion battery has been tested for over 200,000 hours and can be guaranteed for a period of 8 years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km).
