Thunderbolt by Henrik Fisker – the supercar concept based on the Aston Martin Vanquish

Henrik Fisker, the former head of Aston Martin design department of, has created a concept called Thunderbolt. The new design study is based on the Aston Martin Vanquish model.

Henrik Fisker is a name with resonance in the automotive industry. After having established himself as head of design at Aston Martin, Henrik Fisker has created its own car brand. Fisker has designed the luxury hybrid sedan Fisker Karma, but financial problems led to the bankruptcy of the company.

Henrik Fisker has left the company that bears his name and is now focusing on other design projects. Last fall, Fisker has put his signature on the design of a 725 horsepower unique Ford Mustang, created with Galpin Motors (Los Angeles), the largest Ford dealer in the world.

Today, at the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Henrik Fisker reveals its vision of a supercar design: Thunderbolt.

Based on the Aston Martin Vanquish, Henrik Fisker has created the Thunderbolt design concept, a supercar with carbon fiber body.

The front grille of the Thunderbolt has been enlarged and main pillars have been redesigned to receive a very slanted rear window. Henrik Fisker added a different design taillights and a rear spoiler. The Thunderbolt’s ground clearance is 15 mm lower than the series Aston Martin Vanquish and has 21 inch rims. Regarding the technical side, Henrik Fisker made no mention, so most likely the aspirated 6.0-liter V12 engine producing 570 hp was kept.

The Thunderbolt interior was treated with the same attention to details and the piece de resistance is the first curved display used for the infotainment system. The 11.6-inch touch screen was created by Panasonic and can be adjusted in height. For the rear seats, Henrik Fisker has equipped the concept Thunderbolt with a bespoke support for two bottles of wine or champagne.

Henrik Fisker emphasized that this design study is not associated with Aston Martin. Sepending on the feedback there is the possibility of creating an extremely limited series of Thunderbolt.

Henrik Fisker said: “I wanted to create an elegant beautiful GT sports coupé, with pure emotional sculpture, that would stay timeless.”
