LA Auto Show 2011: Land Rover DC100 Concept and Land Rover DC100 Sport Concept

Land Rover DC100 Concept and Land Rover DC100 Sport Concept are coming to the LA Auto Show 2011. Both Land Rover concepts have a potential design direction for the successor of Defender.

Land Rover comes to LA Auto Show 2011 with improved versions of the DC100 and DC100 Sport concepts. The two concept cars represents the potential next generation Land Rover Defender and the way it may evolve.

World debut of Land Rover DC100 and Land Rover DC100 Sport took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show and the models were enthusiastically received by the public. Since then, the two models have received alloy wheels with a different design and the hardtop version was painted in Heritage Blue. Land Rover DC100 model that will be exposed in LA Auto Show 2011presents a modified intake system, made to withstand deep water fords, along with a set of roof supports for luggage.

Land Rover DC100 Concept Engines

Land Rover DC100 Concept has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with an impressive torque allowing the model to escape from any problem when untamed surfaces demand their tribute.

Land Rover DC100 Sport Concept is a convertible interpretation of the Defender and was created for those who really want a special feeling. It has a 2.0-liter petrol engine with four cylinders to provide more intense sensations when the pedal is fully pressed.

Both Land Rover DC100 and Land Rover DC100 Sport are made on a joint lightweight alloy platform and have a wheelbase of 100 inches (2540 mm).

Land Rover DC100 Concept Technology

While Land Rover DC100 Sport focuses more on riding on the road, Land Rover DC100 features an enhanced version of the MagneRide suspension system. The two concepts presented in Frankfurt have the Driveline Disconnect system which allows the traction to be transmitted on the front axle only – front-wheel drive.

The Land Rover DC100 all-wheel drive is enjoying the presence of a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

Inside Land Rover DC100 Concept, an LCD screen replaces the buttons and switches from the center console. Moreover, the two concepts have power strips that allows inductive charging of the gadgets without having connection to a socket. The implementation of the latest system into the series production remains for now at a concept level.
