Geneva 2012 Live: Infiniti Emerg-E Concept

Infiniti has surprised the public in Geneva Motor Show 2012 with an appealing concept, called Emerg-E. Infiniti Emerg-E Concept has a parallel hybrid system and it is likely to go into production.

Infiniti came at Geneva Motor Show with the Emerg-E Concept, the next bearer of the design language that debuted on the concepts Essence and Etherea.

Infiniti Emerg-E Concept Engine

The Infiniti Emerg-E Concept model has a hybrid system consisting of an Lotus engine with three in-line cylinders and two electric motors. The autonomy of this model is up to 50 kilometers (31 miles) in 100% electric mode, but rises up to almost 500 kilometers (301 miles) with the thermal engine of the autonomy range extender.

Each of the two electric motors from Infiniti Emerg-E develops 204 hp (152 kW / 207 PS), while the 1.2-liter engine develops 48 hp (36 kW / 49 PS).

Infiniti officials haven’t spoken yet about a possible production version, but the Japanese said that if there will be enough interested customers, they could build such a model.

Also in Geneva, the Japanese have brought the Infiniti FX 50S Sebastian Vettel. The brand’s officials have announced that the will build only 200 copies of this special edition. The target customers of the limited edition model are from Middle East and Western Europe, and first deliveries will take place from January next year.
