The new 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander keeps the dimensions and proportions of the current generation, the only differences consisting in how Mitsubishi designers and engineers have worked the details. According to the Japanese, in the “shaping” of the new Outlander the “Solid-Safe-Simple” logic was used, one of the main aesthetic qualities of the new 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander being clean lines and simple details, without inconsistent visual load.
The first official details show that the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander will have under the hood two engines: one petrol and one diesel, both versions available in 4×2 and 4×4. They are designed to attract customers regardless of their preferences.
The petrol engine is a 2.0-liter MIVEC and the diesel is a 2.2-liter MIVEC. Both will have Start-Stop and, optionally, a six-speed automatic gearbox. Later in 2013, the new generation Outlander will also receive a hybrid version with direct loading from the outlet that will provide a range of 800 kilometers (500 miles) and tiny CO2 emissions, just 50 grams/km (150 MPG imperial, 125 MPG US).
The 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander will be available in Europe starting July-August this year.
