Mercedes-Benz Actros named “Truck of the Decade”

The readers of the British “Truck & Drivermagazine have voted the current Mercedes-Benz Actros Truck of the Decade. To select the “Truck of the decade,” the jury had to chose from 10 winners of the award “Truck of the Year” from the years 2001 and 2010. The vote was made by the readers.

The third generation of the Actros was last year chosen by an international jury for the “Truck of the Year 2009”. The specialist journalists from 21 European countries had recognized the innovative technology for increased efficiency, environmental compatibility, safety and comfort. The Mercedes-Benz Actros has been offered since March 2008 in the current, third generation. Since its launch in 1996, some 650 000 vehicles have been sold. The model was chosen for each new generation to the “Truck of the Year”.

As the first and only series of the Actros truck is equipped with the optional Active Brake Assist emergency braking system. It is based on the Telligent proximity control and initiates the acute danger of a collision, the brakes independently to vehicles ahead. Further optional safety systems is the Telligent Lane Assistant, which warns of an audible signal before taking over the lane departure.
