We thought giving you a review for 2013 Buick Encore, addressed especially to those who have decided to pack their bags and move overseas, as this new Buick is currently sold only in China and United States of America.
It’s not just a Buick, it’s another „encore” from General Motors: 2013 Buick Encore to be more precise. To be honest, the first second you hear the name Buick your thoughts fly towards the 70s, at the famous muscle car, Buick Gran Sport, writing beautiful pages in the history of engines with an impressive displacement, its cool bonnet and the perfect chick magnet.
2013 Buick Encore – Price and Full Specs
Back to our days, General Motors has launched in the U.S. a smaller crossover named Buick Encore, being thrown in the arena to fight against European vehicles such as Volkswagen Tiguan and the BMW X1. But the new 2013 Buick Encore is nothing but the result of globalization, after Buick went to General Motors, meaning that Buick Encore is just our Opel Mokka in American clothes.
It seems that, among other things, the strategy for 2013 Buick Encore is attracting customers of middle age or even younger clients, even knowing that Buick is a premium brand with models mainly addressed to middle aged men. Still, let’s see how the people at Buick try to impose the new 2013 Buick Encore on the American Market.

Buick Encore’s interior is modern, top equipped with leather upholstery, with plenty of wood trim on its dashboard. Relationship with Opel Mokka is…a bit obvious.
Buick also preseted the new ad for 2013 Buick Encore showing the small luxury crossover on a road full of huge “real dinosaurs”, concluding that “the next big thing in luxury is small.”
The upper part of the dashboard is dominated by a 7-inch display with touch screen that provides all information about the car, GPS information, as well as images taken by the rearview camera. The optional equipments that helps at the comfort of the driver are: heated steering wheel, remotely starting the car, remembering seats and mirrors position, parking assist.

2013 Buick Encore Specs
Looking under the 2013 Buick Encore bonnet, at a first glance, we find a very small engine, especially for an American car and the standard version comes with front wheel drive, but for an additional $1.500 (€1.150) you can have four-wheel drive! The tougher pollution preventing legislation, the increasingly expensive oil and quickly advancing technology makes the people at Buick to equip the 3,300 lbs 2013 Buick Encore only with a 1.4 liter engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
2013 Buick Encore MPG
The 1.4 liter turbo engine develops 138 hp at 4,900 RPM and 148 pound-feet of torque available from 1,850 RPM. It seems that this engine is more than enough for crowded cities with a 23.00 MPG urban fuel efficiency, 30.00 MPG highway and a mixed fuel efficiency of 26.00 MPG. You must admit, that the 2013 Buick Encore looks like it’s made for Europeans, so it wouldn’t be such a big surprise if we would see it in Europe.
We prefer not to comment too much about 2013 Buick Encore‘s exterior look and leave yourself appreciate it (or not) in the pictures/video. The only thing we’ll mention is that the front is a reminiscent of some Chinese SUV, possibly due to excessive use of chrome.
In conclusion, we appreciate the courage shown by Buick to create an unusual model for the brand’s tradition. Remains to be seen whether the starting price of Buick Encore of around $25,000 will keep it in a tight competition with the already famous Volkswagen Tiguan and BMW X1.
