Skoda Rapid was launched at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The model promises to become a bestseller in its segment, relying on the provided interior space and a competitive price.
Skoda Rapid was the only premiere at the Czech manufacturer’s stand at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, contrary to rumors announcing the presentation of the new generation Octavia. The new sedan was drawn by Jozef Kaban, chief designer from Skoda, also the man who led the design team for Bugatti Veyron.

The production version of Skoda Rapid, foreseen by the MissionL concept, is the first model that features the new design philosophy of the Skoda, available on the European market from November, while in China will go on sale from 2013. Skoda Rapid is made at the plant on Mladá Boleslav in Czech Republic, and will be produced along with the Citigo, Fabia, Octavia, Superb, Roomster and Yeti.
Skoda Rapid will be placed in the Czech manufacturer’s range between Fabia and the Octavia Tour and essentially is the rival of the Dacia Logan 2 with the starting price announced for the English market £ 12,900 (€ 16,000) and will be offered in three trim levels (S, SE and Elegance). Its dimensions are: 4.48 meters (14.7 feet) long and 1.7 meters (5.6) wide, and the luggage compartment reaching up to 460 liters (16.3 ft³).
Under the bonnet, the prospective buyer will have a choice between four petrol and diesel engines, linked to a 5 or 6-speed manual transmission or a DSG 7-speed automatic gearbox. The base model is powered by a 1.2-liter 75 hp engine, while the most expensive Elegance version that costs £ 17,850 (€ 22,450) will be fitted with the 1.6 TDI engine and 105 hp, with CO2 emissions of just 114 g/km.
Regardless of the trim level, all Skoda Rapid will be equipped with daytime running lights, remote central locking, electric front windows, adjustable height driver’s seat, head curtain airbags. The SE version also includes 15″ alloy wheels, AC, onboard computer, Bluetooth, leather steering wheel, mirrors and handles in body color. The top version, Elegance, has 16″ alloy wheels and extra fog lights, rear electric windows, cruise control and four-spoke multi-function steering wheel.
