Opel Adam – Design, Interior, Engine
With a length of 3.7 meters, Opel Adam stands out with a number of interesting features. Focusing on customization options available to customers, the new Adam comes with a “floating” roof, a visual effect created by a roof arch “detachment” thus an interesting body, unique in the industry. The two parts of the body can be ordered in different contrasting colors or the same color, depending on the customer.
Even if the front bumper is new for Opel, Adam is highlighting its personality through a series of new elements, such as a one-piece front grille “cut” by a chrome bar that also has the logo, and LED headlights. The German model also stays faithful to the classic Opel design, some details –such as lines carved on doors – were found most recently on Astra GTC.
The new Opel Adam interior comes with quality materials combining soft polyurethane foam on top of the board with colorful glossy plastic assorted with the external shades. We also have removable colorful panels on all doors and a range of 7 colors for ambient lighting. The ceiling can be ordered in four different prints: clouds, autumn leaves, flag with squares or a network of 60 LEDs that illuminate the trim.
Future aesthetic customization: Opel will offer a series of practical packages to customize the Adam model. Thus, the Winter package comes with heated front seats and heated steering wheel (an absolute novelty in the segment), OPC Line Pack comes with a more aggressive spoiler design while the Sight & Light package comes with „safety” features such as wipers with rain sensors and lights with sensors.
Here we are, the engines. Opel Adam will be launched next spring with three options, all running on petrol. First off, a 1.2-liter unit with 70 hp and two 1.4 liter engine versions: 87 and 100 horses. All use a five-speed manual gearbox. Later in 2013, Opel promises to introduce a turbocharged engine, with small displacement from the new generation that will send power to the wheels through a six-speed gearbox.
For those who have problems with parking, Opel Adam comes with a new generation parking assist system. In addition, to ensure complete urban mobility, Adam can be optionally ordered with FlexFix bike racks. This allows mounting of up to two bikes and the tailgate can be opened at any time without problems.
