2013 Seat Leon – Design, Interior, Engine
The new 2013 Seat Leon comes with a new line of design inspired by the concept of IBE Coupe, already exposed in the Salons of Geneva and Frankfurt. The designers have adopted more straight lines compared to the current model and added larger bosses, sporty wheels and rear doors with conventional handles, not hidden as the ones seen on the previous model.
Absolute novelty: the front lights were equipped with full LED technology for all modes of illumination, a premiere in the compact class.
The engine range will include five petrol and four diesels units. Those who favor petrol will have to choose from a 1.2 TSI unit that can be found in versions of 85 and 105 horsepower, a 1.4 TSI, in versions of 122 and 140 horsepower, the latter equipped with cylinder deactivation system, and an engine made especially for those who like girls/racing, one 1.8 TSI unit of 180 horsepower.
For those who prefer diesel, Seat will have on display the already popular 1.6 TDI unit with 90 and 105 horsepower. The less potent version will be the most economical, officials announced a consumption of only 3.2 l/100 km and 99 g / kmemits.
Those who want more power can go for a 2.0 TDI unit with 150 and 185 horsepower. The first one uses only 3.36 liters/100 km. All engines will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and dual-clutch automatic. While most versions are equipped with a semi-rigid axle, the upper engines will have a McPherson suspension (front) and multi-link (rear).
If you are interested in the sports version: FR, Seat introduces a Drive Profile, a system that allows you to change direction, acceleration sensitivity and engine sound. There are three different modes: Eco, Comfort and Sport. The first two come with white background lighting, and the third on a red background.
The interior now comes with quality materials and leather or Alcantara upholstery. The list of equipment includes a new 5-inch touch screen, multimedia system revised with Easy Connect, Bluetooth and USB. For higher versions, Seat will install a 5.8-inch touchscreen LCD with Media Plus system, iPod connectivity, 3D navigation, voice control and DAB digital radio.
2013 Seat Leon gets a modern dashboard with some elements borrowed from the Audi A3. Wheel shape remained the same as the Spanish brand invented it.
According to the official press release issued by Seat, the 2013 Seat Leon should keep a starting price similar to the current generation, which would make the compact become extremely attractive.
