The Peugeot stand at Paris Motor Show was very rich this year, displaying a host of innovations. The most important, of course, is the new Peugeot 508.
As a world premiere at Paris Motor Show 2010, the new Peugeot 508 is proving to be a very pleasant surprise. The French mid-class sedan displays a refreshing and in the same time sober style, to satisfy the special customers’ desire of owning a quality vehicle.
The dimensions of the French vehicle are really generous. When you sit behind the wheel of Peugeot 508, you are overwhelmed by a luxury feeling, most materials used in the creation of the interior being of excellent quality. It is true that the Peugeot 508 variant exposed at Paris Motor Show has a maximum level of equipment, but we have reasons to believe that the series car will look exactly the same (in the “full-option” mode, of course). The shape of the instrument panel and the central display reveal the ergonomics efficiency, reliability, and also a high degree of visibility, issues that were quite discussed in the past in the case of Peugeot. As for the rear seats, they are really spacious and comfortable. The trunk represents also an achievement for the Peugeot team, especially because it opens automatically, using the “0” from the “508” logo.
Peugeot 508 measures 479 cm long, while the Peugeot 508 SW version receives 2 extra centimeters. The vehicle will be available with an e-HDi engine, equipped with a new Start & Stop system. The 508 will be achievable in many engine variants: a gasoline engine of 1.6-liter VTi which produces 120 bhp and 160 Nm (144 g CO2/km); a 1.6-liter THP, which delivers 156 bhp and 240 Nm (149g CO2 per Km in the case of manual gearbox and 164g CO2/Km for the automatic transmission); a 1.6-liter HDi that produces 112 bhp and 285 Nm (109 g CO2/Km); a 2.0-Liter HDI which generates 140b hp and 340 Nm (125 g CO2/ Km) and also a 163 bhp version of the same engine (149 g CO2/ Km); a 2.2 liter HDI 204 bhp and 450 Nm (150 g CO2/ Km).
Moreover, the manufacturers promise to launch a Hybrid 4 variant, having hybrid propulsion and all-wheel drive. This model boasts with 200 bhp and exhaust emissions of just 99 g/km.
Peugeot 508 will be at first produced in France, at RennesLaJanais, and starting from 2011 it will be assembled in Wuhan plant, China.
Peugeot 508 is likely to become part of the Hors-series line, next to the RCZ coupe. The Hors-series range will include the premium cars, as does DS line (Distinctive Spirit) for Citroen.
