Geneva 2013 Live: Ssangyong Rodius, Korean Mammoth

SsangYong brought at the Motor Show in Geneva its next generation of 2013 Ssangyong Rodius. In a room full of newly launched supercars and numerous new models where you can’t decide which one’s the most beautiful, we went upstream and met up with SsangYong, with or without intent. Well, Rodius is not a very attractive model, in fact, it was named by many „The ugliest car in the world”. Still, this variant has a special ability – it can carry 11 passengers and we’ve got ever more good news: the new generation of 2013 Ssangyong Rodius is much….prettier, compared to the first edition, sign that the design was taken into account as a chapter in the development of this new generation.

SsangYong Rodius comes with a spacious interior, massive wheelbase, four rows of seats and a capacity to carry up to 11 passengers. The model was presented as the Korando Turismo on South Korean market, but it will still be called Rodius on the Old Continent. It is unclear whether the range of engines remains the same, but the appearance will suffer slight changes.

New 2013 SsangYong Rodius has a length of 5130 mm, a width of 1915 mm and a height of 1815 mm. Wheelbase is 3,000 mm. In standard, Rodius will be equipped with a 2.0 liter diesel engine which develops 155 hp and you’ll have to choose from a six-speed manual transmission or 5-speed automatic. Subsequently, Rodius range will include a 3.2-liter V6 engine, running on gasoline. South Korean manufacturer will also offer all-wheel drive as an option.

Commercial debut for 2013 SsangYong Rodius on the new European market will take place in the second half of the year. The interior can be ordered in two colors and will be available in five exterior colors. 4×4 versions will have two exclusive wheel designs making this car even more beautiful. The list of features includes cruise control, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable seats, front and rear parking sensors, heated seats and much more.

Price for 2013 SsangYong Rodius? Priceless!

Pricing details have still to be finalised but, like its predecessor, you should expect a price that will seriously undercut its competition.
