LaFerrari is the name of the Ferrari Enzo’s successor, the new hypercar being the “maximum expression” of what defines the Prancing Horse. LaFerrari (meaning “The Ferrari”) was finally unveiled at Geneva Motor Show 2013, the new Italian secret being sacredly kept until the official presentation.
LaFerrari comes 11 years after the Enzo. LaFerrari uses the know-how of the Scuderia on KERS and is therefore equipped with a hybrid system developed to influence performance and driving pleasure while improving energy efficiency – CO2 emissions are limited to 330 g/km. Only 499 LaFerrari copies, with a price starting from €1.2 million, will be produced despite a more than double request, which are already Sold Out.

First pictures live with LaFerrari, the new beast of the Prancing Horse. LaFerrari, undoubtedly one of the main attractions of the Geneva Motor Show 2013, will be produced in only 499 copies. The charming Italian car regarded as the heir of the famous Ferrari Enzo, is equipped with a hybrid power system.
The powerful 6262 cc V12 engine is capable of producing 800 horsepower delivered at 9,000 RPM (the maximum speed is set at an altitude of 9,250 rpm). To the ponies developed by the combustion engine we then add the 163 horsepower (120 kW) supplied by the electric motor. The total power reach to an impressive 963 HP with a maximum torque over 900 Nm (665 lb-ft). The electrical module is composed of a pair of motors – developed with the help of Magneti Marelli, both with a specific function: one delivers power to the wheels and the other to auxiliary systems. The battery pack is housed in the floor and has a mass of 60 kg (132 lbs).
The engine is matted to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. This mix of solutions delivers performances that are really interesting. LaFerrari accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3 seconds, it continues the sprint to 125 mph (200 km/h) in less than 7 seconds and reaches the remarkable speed of 186 mph (300 km/h – from a standing start) after 15 seconds. The top speed, finally, exceeds 220 mph (350 km/h).
We must also remember that LaFerrari is the first road car to be fitted with the monitoring of the dynamics integrated with active aerodynamics and the HY-KERS system. The HY-KERS system has a compression ratio of 13.5:1 and develops a specific power of 128 hp/liter.
Compared to the historical ancestor has an increased torsional stiffness (+27%) and flexural (+22%), an optimal weight distribution (41/59), a low center of gravity (-35 mm) and a compact pace. LaFerrari measures 4702 mm (185.1 in) in length, 1992 mm (78.4 in) in width and 1116 mm (43.9 in) in height.
The setting of the interior also is borrowed from Formula 1, in accordance with the fixed seat and the adjustable pedals and steering wheel. Ferrari’s engineers have also devoted equal attention to architecture.
LaFerrari also boasts with the highest level of aerodynamic efficiency for a road car (value of 3) and uses a number of active aerodynamic elements, the front (speaker profiles and door on the bottom) to the rear (speaker profiles and retractable spoiler). These elements move automatically.
The Brembo braking system, includes energy recovery system and has several new features, such as new lighter forceps design and new designed carbon-ceramic discs. The size is extra large: 398 mm front and 380 mm rear. The 19 and 20 inches alloy wheels are mounted with Pirelli PZero tires: 265/30 and 345/30.
“We chose to call this model LaFerrari,” declared Ferrari’s President, Luca di Montezemolo, “because it is the maximum expression of what defines our company – excellence. Excellence in terms of technological innovation, performance, visionary styling and the sheer thrill of driving. Aimed at our collectors, this is a truly extraordinary car which encompasses advanced solutions that, in the future, will find their way onto the rest of the range, and it represents the benchmark for the entire automotive industry. LaFerrari is the finest expression of our company’s unique, unparalleled engineering and design know-how, including that acquired in Formula 1.”
