Geneva 2013 Live: Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra – The Golden Madness

Christian von Koenigsegg unveiled today at 2013 Geneva Motor Show the one-off Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra. The Koenigsegg Hundra is essentially an Agera S made of carbon fiber and decorated with inserts of 24 gold carat sheets, creating an interesting mix of traditional and hi-tech craftsmanship.

Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra was built in order to celebrate 100th Agera that goes into production. In Swedish language, Hundra means “hundred” (100) and the handmade special edition has exhaust tailpipes coated with foliated 24 carat gold, and other gold embroidered details on the dashboard and seats, which are covered with Alcantara and carbon fiber.

Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra has been ordered by a collector from Malaysia, the design of the supercar was made by an Italian artist.

Mechanically, Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra has the same 5.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 1030 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque (1100 Nm), and weighs just 1400 kg (3100 lbs). The new craziness accelerates from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, and continues to 186 mph (300 km/h) in just 22.5 seconds.

How much is all this insanity worth? Well… Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra price is €1.2 million.

The company founder Christian von Koenigsegg was unthreatened by the profusion of brand new hypercars around the Geneva motor show stands. “Our clients are collectors,” he explained. “They’ll probably order the Ferrari, the McLaren and one of our cars while they’re here. It’s true that there will be a lot million-dollar exotics coming onto the market in a short space of time, but it’s the likes of Ferrari and McLaren that will have to manage that; our business won’t be affected.”

“We service the business as it comes to us,” he went on. “When we set up in 2002, the idea was to make the Porsche 911 of hypercars: one that would go through a process of continuous improvement for many decades. I think we’re achieving that. Some years we make twelve cars; others we’ve made as many as seventeen. Right now, our order book is about a year long, and that’s normal for us.”
