The long awaited Alfa Romeo 4C debuted in style in Geneva. Alfa Romeo announces that the first 1,000 Alfa Romeo 4C that will be sold, will be a special edition – 4C Launch Edition. 500 will go to North America, 400 in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and another 100 for the rest of the world.
Alfa Romeo 4C has evolved from the concept stage to the production car, and here at Geneva Motor Show 2013, for the first time, we could see the new coupe into reality. Alfa stand has no less than three 4C copies exposed and each is surrounded by beautiful girls in classic Italian style of the Alfa Romeo. The new Alfa 4C presents a superb exterior design line, and new optical blocks with a very interesting design (and at the same time strange).

Alfa Romeo 4C comes in two different colors, red Alfa and white Carrara, while its style differs from the special aerodynamic carbon fiber kit (including spoiler and door mirror caps), the dark aluminum air diffuser at the rear, the front “bi-LED” optical blocks and special alloy 18-inch (front) and 19-inch (rear) wheels. To further enhance the sporty character of the car, there are front air intakes, brake calipers – in a special color, race exhaust, BMC air filter and a suspension kit with special settings for the rear shock absorbers and anti-roll bar.
The equivalent of the exterior is the sportiness of the interior, with sports seats in fabric/leather and Alcantara elements, aluminum inserts and aluminum gear knob (like a characteristic trademark). In the red colored car we find red stitching on the steering wheel, handbrake , seats, mats and door handles.
Alfa Romeo 4C is designed by Alfa Romeo engineers, and will be built at the Maserati factory in Modena. The new small sports car will be available in the market starting mid-2013 and will be the car that will bring back Alfa Romeo in the U.S. market, thus contributing to the global growth plan of the company.
The 4C “Launch Edition” can be ordered directly at a price that is expected not to exceed €65,000 Euros (including VAT, excluding surtaxes and luxury). The price for regular production model is expected to be announced in May.
Due to the increased interest and the uniqueness of Alfa Romeo 4C ‘Launch Edition’, the client follows a process of pre-booking (valid for all European countries) which leads to the signing of a contract with a view to include the client’s name on a waiting list. Through this exclusive list (which will be a strict order of priority) the client will obtain the coveted 4C. An additional unique privilege reserved for the buyers of 4C “Launch Edition”, is the possibility to participate in a special event in Italy, which will include a challenging training in driving with professional drivers.
Mechanically, Alfa Romeo 4C has a new four-cylinder 1750cc Turbo petrol all- aluminium engine, that delivers 240 horsepower. The engine is matted with a 6-speed TCT automatic transmission with double clutch paddles on the steering wheel. The Alfa DNA switch has four modes: Dynamic, Natural, All Weather and Race. The latter program is for track use, improving the dynamic characteristics of 4C. The 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) is achieved in 4.5 seconds, and has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
The acronym ‘4C’ draws its inspiration from the brand’s glorious past, projecting the values of technology and emotions into the future. Indeed, it refers to Alfa Romeo’s great sporting tradition: the acronyms 8C and 6C in the 1930s and 1940s distinguished cars – both racing and road – fitted with the powerful ‘eight cylinders’ and the innovative ‘six cylinders’, confirming in its design layout and construction the goal of achieving the power/weight ratio of an authentic supercar, less than 4 kg/HP, yet focusing not merely on the maximum power delivered, but on limiting the weight to guarantee maximum agility and top performance. To this end, the Alfa Romeo 4C uses technologies and materials derived from super sports cars (including the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione) – carbon fibre, aluminium, rear-wheel drive – and technologies from the latest standard models from Alfa Romeo, but updated to enhance the sports appeal of the new car even further. This is demonstrated by the new 1750 Turbo Petrol all-aluminium engine with direct injection, the sophisticated Alfa TCT twin dry clutch transmission and the Alfa DNA selector with the unprecedented Race mode.
