It’s the new 2013 Skoda Octavia Combi, the popular station wagon that now reached its third generation. Skoda will bring at the Geneva Motor Show a new variant that presents further improvments for the future of this brand.To ensure that the new 2013 Octavia range will have a success at least as big as its old generations, Skoda prepares new surprises.
The first one comes even within the Geneva Motor Show, where the Czech manufacturer unveils as a world premiere the new 2013 Skoda Octavia Combi. This model reached its third generation and now offers the same interior space usually found in the medium segment.
2013 Skoda Octavia Combi – Longer and wider than the old model
Compared to the old model, Skoda Octavia Combi is 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider. The wheelbase has also been increased by not less than 110 mm. All these new dimensions lead to a very generous interior space. Rear seat passengers will have 73 mm in front of the knees, while the trunk was enlarged fitting up to 610 liters. When the rear seats fold flat, the Czech model promises a 1740 liter boot. All these values place the new Octavia on the number one spot in its segment in terms of space.
Overall, the model borrows all attributes from his hatchback brother, including innovative solutions for anchoring, double floor, spaces for recipients and multimedia systems or nets in the trunk. Moreover, it also comes with a clothes hanger, folding rear seats and even the front passenger seat may be folded when you have to carry extra long items.
At the aesthetic level, the differences between the new Skoda Octavia Combi and 2013 Octavia are not very many, at least in front of the car. but in the back, roof line descends slowly to a new tailgate with new optical block, extending to the rear wings and fitted with LEDs, arranged in the traditional form of the letter “C”.
2013 Skoda Octavia Combi Specs
As with the five-door variant, 2013 Skoda Octavia Combi has a lot of safety systems such as preventing chain collisions, City Emergency Braking Function (avoiding accidents at low speed in town), Driver Activity Assistant (responsible for detecting fatigue), warnings if you’re changing lanes and lights systeam that includes beam rotation. The new engines found on 2013 Skoda Octavia Combi are designed to reduce fuel consumption by 17% on average compared to the old generation.
The range will include four petrol units and four diesels. among which we include the economic GreenLine version, which Skoda says it will have a mixed fuel efficiency of only 3.4 l/100 km emitting 89 g/km. Also, vRS wagon will return later in 2013, packing over 200bhp from a turbocharged 2.0-litre motor. Along with the new generation Octavia, Skoda will also bring to Geneva Motor Show the new Octavia Combi 4×4 version for slighty rough terrains, ready to offer 5th Haldex generation of full wheel drive and a higher ground clearance.
Price of 2013 Skoda Octavia Combi has not been revelead but we should provide more information starting March 5th.
