Geneva 2011 Live: the Mini stand is not so minimalist

Mini presented the Rocketman Concept at Geneva Motor Show 2011. Mini Rocketman Concept foreshadows a future rival for the Smart Fortwo and debuted along with the most powerful diesel in the British range – the Mini Cooper SD.

Mini stand in Geneva marked a presentation arrangement for a very appealing concept – Mini Rocketman. Mini Rocketman Concept has entered the stage in a cardboard box and was opened by the assistants of the Mini as a new toy. The Rocketman Concept was dressed in a polystyrene support, to prevent breaking it during transport. Along with new Rocketman Concept, Mini Cooper SD was presented as the most powerful diesel ever offered in the Mini range.

The new Mini Cooper SD is equipped with a 2.0-liter diesel engine that offers 143 hp and 305 Nm. The engine is borrowed from the BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 Series and is 31 horsepower stronger than the most powerful diesel version offered in the Mini range before the debut of this new engine. Mini Cooper SD – peak torque offered by the new engine is achieved at 1,750 rpm.
