Now let’s have a look at the 2014 Golf R specs sheet
Technical specification sheet is announcing a two-liter turbo engine under the bonnet capable of delivering no less than 300 horsepower, 380 lb-ft, 30 hp and 30 Nm more than its predecessor. In other words, the engine found on the new 2014 Golf R comes from the EA888 family and was taken from the Audi S3, now offered in both the DSG version and the six-speed manual transmission version.
Four wheel drive comes as a standard so you’ll need 5.3 seconds for 0-100 km/h if you are driving the six-speed manual transmission variant. If you opt for the DSG optionally available, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved even faster! DSG version of the 2014 Golf R is faster than its donor, Audi S3, with a tenth of a second, reaching 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
2014 Golf R Fuel consumption
Golf R DSG announces 6.9 liters/100 km mixed, while the manual transmission variant should settle for 7.1 liters / 100km.
You’re thinking top speed? Bad news: regardless what transmission you’ll choose, it will be limited to 250 kilometers per hour. Also, prospective buyers will be provided with the possibility to opt for DCC adaptive chassis offering four different suspension settings – Eco, Normal, Individual and, let’s not forget, Race.
Among other changes found on the new 2014 Volkswagen Golf R we include a ground clearance 20 mm lower than the standard Golf or five millimeters lower compared with a Golf GTI VII.
More updates and photos will be coming soon as the Frankfurt Auto Show 2013 will comence in early September. Stay tunned as Volkswagen representatives have already announced a price for the German market: the 2014 Golf R will start from 38,325 euros.
