Subaru WRX is a concept which has attracted many eyes at the Subaru booth here at Frankfurt Motor Show. WRX Concept is presented with an aggressive look and painted, of course, in the traditional blue Subaru. Much of the design elements on this concept will be included on future Japanese manufacturer models and the next variant of the Impreza will have similar lines.
As you may already know, Subaru WRX concept debuted at this year’s New York Auto Show where the audience was impressed by its appearance. The car comes with muscular lines, a prominent honeycomb grille, newly designed headlamps and other specific traits that predict the new philosophy of the brand.
Most likely, Subaru will equip its new 2013 WRX Concept with the famous Symmetrical All Wheel Drive and a hybrid powertrain. This would ensure an important fuel economy, which has become an important criteria for current performance models.
We meet again with the fluorescent yellow and WRX logos, just to contrast with the blue car color named WR Blue Pearl III. 20-inch forged wheels, BBS provenance were added to complete the package.
As cool as this car looks, it will unfortunately remain only a dream for now, as the upcoming Subaru WRX and STI models won’t be influenced by this design.
Subaru WRX concept is 178.0 inches (4,521mm) long, 74.4 inches (1,889mm) wide and 54.7 inches (1,389mm) in hight, which makes it slightly shorter, lower and wider compared with the Impreza Mk4 sedan. Its wheelbase is now much longer at 108.7 inches (2,761mm) compared to the Impreza’s at 104.1 inches (2,644mm).
I’m sure most of you are interested in what Subaru WRX concept has under the bonnet but officials say the concept is fitted with a new turbocharged engine and intercooler, failing to give more details.
