Ssangyong will change its name in 2017

Ssangyong will go through a serious rebranding, which will be completed in 2017 by removing this name from the automotive market. Ssangyong range will be sold, from that moment, under a new logo.


SsangYong will pass through the third rebranding of history that will make giving up that name, JustAuto headlines. The company that started in 1954 under the name of Ha Dong-hwan Motor Co. It will sell its products since 2017 under another name. The name will be given by leading Indian corporation which holds manufacturer in South Korea. The name change is intended to facilitate market entry brand in the United States and the Indians want to get rid of the negative legacy that has the brand in that market. However, Ssangyong wants to double its sales in the coming years, the target is 300,000 units per year by 2016.

The debut on the market in the United States should take place next year in order to reach global sales target, estimates Yoo-yl, President and CEO Ssangyong. However, South Korean brand owned by Indian concern Mahindra must first change its name and then to debut on the market in North America, so it is unclear when that will change. Brand Ssangyong looks back 30 years of history and its models will lose and logo, in addition to the company name. Mahindra spokesman confirmed that the Indian corporate name will not be on the logo future models of the company now known for Ssangyong.
According to current information, Ssangyong will keep its factories in South Korea, the country benefiting from more bilateral trade global partnerships that allow it to manufacture products which are sold at competitive prices throughout the world. Those partnerships allow those in Ssangyong, among others, to sell in Europe and the US automobile manufactured in South Corea without additional import duties.
