Renault is preparing a 1.8 turbo engine of 300 horses for the future Renault Alpine, Renault Megane RS and Renault Pulsar Nismo

Renault is impassioned working on the new Renault Alpine. It would benefit from a completely new engine, a 1.8-liter turbo capable of developing up to 300 horsepower.

Like any self-respecting manufacturer, Renault is preparing to reveal a sports product, created entirely by its engineers and RS division. The new model is born with the name Alpine, already confirmed by officials from Hexagon. A concept was presented at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and then debuted at the Goodwood Festival.

The serial version is expected until next year, when Renault will devote every effort of launching the new model. Although details are currently a mystery, French newspaper Automotivpress trying to pinpoint performance model using inside information of the manufacturer.

Preliminary details announces a new generation turbo engine with a capacity of 1.8 liters, able to develop three power versions: one 250, one 270 and one 300 horsepower. The unit will actually an evolution of the current 1.6-liter engine found in the Clio RS. He will use much of components TCe unit, but will benefit from a revised ECU, an improved cooling system and new cylinder. Like the 1.6-liter engine model Alpine future will be associated with a dual-clutch transmissions.

To reduce the cost of developing such a propeller, Renault will use it for other model. The 1.8-liter TCe unit becomes an ideal candidate for future Renault Megane RS and Nissan Pulsar Nismo performance model, expected to provide 270 horses.
