German brand Borgward, that went bankrupt in the 60s, will be reborn at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show with a new model: a modern SUV –Borgward BX7, with 12.3 inch screen and a turbo petrol engine.
2015 Frankfurt Motor Show will check and rebirth of an old German brand. Expected to debut a concept at the Geneva Motor Show, Borgward Swiss missed the event, but promised to expose a production model in Frankfurt. No one believed the Germans ambitious, who want to sell 800,000 cars by 2020.
With a length of 4.7 meters, the new model will be able to provide space for five, six or seven people, depending on seating configuration. The generous dimensions will allow to provide new customers and a trunk capacity of 1344 liters when the last row of seats folded.
The interior will guarantee passengers and a 12.3 inch multimedia screen, WiFi connectivity and smart phones. There will be no restraints, including find a room overlooking 360, a brake assist system with pedestrian detection function, adaptive cruise control and assistance in the event of impact.
Borgward BX7 – a hybrid version of 400 horsepower
The engine range will include a drive with four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo that delivers 224 horsepower and is assisted by a manual transmission with double clutch and seven reports. Do not miss any wheel drive, offered in standard, which was developed using popular companies BorgWagner.
The surprises do not stop here, as the German SUV will be offered with a hybrid version of the BX7, powered by the same engine 2.0-liter gasoline, but assisted by an electric motor in order to deliver a total power of 400 hp ie fixed as it takes to compete with the new Volvo XC90 T8. The system comes with a lithium-ion battery that can guarantee a pure electric driving for a distance of 55 kilometers. In this case we are talking about a four-wheel drive, but with a slightly different operating principle: the front acţiunează petrol engine and the electric motor at the rear.
New Borgward BX7 will be available in 2016 on the Chinese market and other Asian areas, given that financial support comes from the German brand Beiqi Foton Motor Company Chinese company, a brand specializing in commercial vehicles. It is a subsidiary of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding and Foton brand marketed under a number of commercial vehicles including a pick-up, two models van, an SUV called Sauvan plus a number of trucks.
The European market will get the SUV a few months later in Germany, its starting price is already fixed at 26,000 euros.
