BMW have confirmed that they will create a hybrid based on wheelbase 5 Series specifically for the Chinese market and confirmed the start of a three-cylinder turbo engine TwinPower.
Norbert Reithofer, chief executive of BMW Group, has confirmed his debut 5 Series Plug-in Hybrid at the Auto Show in Shanghai. With this confirmation, BMW chief also spoke about the future of three-cylinder turbo engine and the release of Series 1. Surprisingly, the hybrid version of the 5 Series will be available only in China and is based on wheelbase version of the model. That vehicle is produced at Brilliance China Automotive Holdings ones.
The second announcement Norbert Reithofer relate to the production version of the Mini coupe, with the second generation of the BMW 1 Series. The two models will debut together in a car showroom, along with the BMW M5 and the new BMW 6 Series Coupe and BMW 6 Series Convertible.
