The second generation of the Clubman – 2016 Mini Clubman – was officially presented. The new model presents a new interpretation of the shooting brake concept, adapting it to the needs of the customers in the compact class.
2016 Mini Clubman Design
The new model presents a totally new look, inspired by the current generation of the Mini Hatch. The front is dominated by similar round encompassing lights and signs. The hood is longer and plunged toward the front, and depending on the engine has a slot cut in the central vent. The wings were generous bosses and black plastic protection. In the back, Clubman uses two symmetrical doors opening to the left and right to access the luggage compartment. A chrome handle retro design is centrally located and is framed by lights with a totally new design. Another special element model aerodynamic flap Clubman is located on the roof that incorporates a red light that activates when closing the car.
2016 Mini Clubman Interior
The design of the interior is completely new and is inspired by the back of the Mini Hatch. Mini Classic elements have been preserved such as round central display, and dashboard mounted directly on the steering column. Climate system controls are located on the center console below the circular display and buttons inspired by aviation were kept. The parking brake is electrically operated and now find the next gear lever and rotary controller inspiring BMW.
2016 Mini Clubman Engines
At launch, the new Mini Clubman will be available in three engine variants. Two of them are gasoline, and the third is a turbodiesel. Mini Cooper Clubman will use a turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline 1.5-liter that delivers 136 hp at 4,400 rev / min and a maximum torque of 220 Nm at 1,250 rev / min. Acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 9.1 seconds is made, and the maximum attainable speed is 205 km / hour. The average consumption is 5.3 liters / 100 km.
Mini Cooper S Clubman will use turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 192 hp at 5,000 rev / min and 280 Nm at 1,250 rot.min. The performances are interesting: 7.2 seconds to complete the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h and a top speed of 228 km / hour. Average fuel consumption is 6.3 liters / 100 km. For those who want a Mini Cooper Clubman there will efficiently using Motoru D Clubman 2.0-liter turbodiesel that produces 150 hp at 4,000 rev / min. Maximum torque is 330 Nm available at 1,750 r / min, and average fuel consumption is 4.4 liters / 100 km. All three engines meet Euro 6 emissions standards.
Power is transmitted to the front axle via a gearbox six-speed manual and optional automatic transmission will be available eight-speed Steptronic, a first for the Mini Clubman. It will be available for the Cooper S Clubman and Cooper variants D Clubman. There is an automatic transmission Steptronic sport as an option for Cooper S Clubman, while the base model Cooper Clubman will be available with an automatic transmission Steptronic six-speed.
2016 Mini Clubman Equippement
The new Mini Clubman uses the same platfomă borrowed from BMW Active Tourer 2, the platform used by the Mini Hatch. And as usual, it was not stingy Mini caând it comes to systems that will equip the new model. The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is offered with standard traction control to sinamic (DTC). The suspension can be adjusted by opting for sports suspension and Dynamic Damper Control and the new Clubman will be equipped with alloy wheels in sizes from 16 to 19 inches. Driving modes can be selected via a knob located around the base of the gearshift, the same system used by the Mini Hatch. There are three driving modes: Mid, Sport and Green. These modes affect throttle response and steering assist ratio. Optionally, the driving system ceased to be Head-Up Display, which projects key information system directly visible to the driver. Mini Clubman can be equipped with parking sensors, reversing camera, cruise control automatic warning system in case of an imminent collision, automatic beam and detecting signs of movement.
